Python / AWS Cloud Developer - Build, Run & DevOps Senior

ABGi Technology is recruiting on behalf of its client, a large industrial group in the energy sector, for its future Senior Python / AWS Cloud Developer - Build, Run & DevOps, based in Lyon.

📍 Location: Lyon, with occasional travel within France (4 to 8 times a year, mainly to Lille and Paris).

📅 Start date: 4 January 2027

📆 Expected duration: until 31 December 2028, subject to the exercise of contractual options.

🔎 YOUR MISSIONS

As part of the development and modernisation of its information system, our client wishes to strengthen its digital team with a Senior Python / AWS Cloud Developer, capable of working across the entire lifecycle of critical business applications, from design through to operational maintenance.

You will work within a team responsible for the BUILD and RUN activities of a strategic business platform hosted on AWS, used to support the maintenance and logistics operations of a large industrial group.

This platform plays an important role in the functioning of business activities and requires a high level of reliability, security, availability and technical quality.

Your role will consist of taking part in the design, development, integration, deployment and operation of application features, while ensuring their compliance with business, technical and cybersecurity requirements.

You will also work with internal teams, business users and technical partners to facilitate integrations with partner systems and ensure the smooth operation of the platform.

The missions entrusted to you:

Application design and architecture

• Analyse the functional and technical needs expressed by business teams;

• Design functional and technical developments for the platform;

• Translate business needs into reliable, secure and maintainable application solutions;

• Take part in architecture decisions and discussions on the evolution of application components hosted on AWS;

• Identify technical constraints, dependencies and the impacts of planned changes;

• Write detailed technical specifications and produce sequence diagrams;

• Maintain application design and architecture documentation.

Python development and AWS integration

• Design, develop and maintain application components in Python;

• Use AWS SDKs, including Boto3, to interact with Cloud services and resources;

• Develop and maintain integration interfaces with partner systems;

• Design, develop and operate application exchanges based on REST APIs;

• Take part in the evolutionary and corrective maintenance of existing applications;

• Apply good practices in development, software quality and cybersecurity;

• Carry out code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development practices;

• Ensure the maintainability, robustness and security of the developments you produce.

DevOps, integration and deployment

• Contribute to continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) activities;

• Use and maintain integration and deployment pipelines based on GitLab CI and Jenkins;

• Take part in automating development, testing and deployment processes;

• Support production releases and application changes;

• Ensure the reliability of deployments and compliance with technical processes;

• Contribute to improving DevOps practices and industrialising application delivery;

• Take part in discussions on automating Cloud infrastructure, including with Terraform.

Testing, qualification and software quality

• Define and formalise technical test scenarios;

• Prepare and run test campaigns;

• Verify that developments comply with functional and technical specifications;

• Identify, analyse and correct detected anomalies;

• Take part in acceptance and validation phases with business teams and partners;

• Ensure the quality, reliability and stability of delivered features;

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of qualification and validation processes.

BUILD, RUN and operational maintenance

• Carry out BUILD and RUN activities on business applications hosted on AWS;

• Take part in the operational maintenance of the platform;

• Analyse, diagnose and handle application incidents, anomalies and problems;

• Develop and deploy necessary fixes;

• Take part in resolving technical malfunctions;

• Contribute to the availability, stability and service continuity of applications;

• Identify areas for improvement that make operations more reliable;

• Carry out corrective and evolutionary maintenance of application components.

Application security and access management

• Comply with cybersecurity requirements applicable to applications and Cloud environments;

• Take into account mechanisms for securing exchanges and access;

• Work on environments using LDAP, TLS, SSL and SSO technologies;

• Ensure the security of communications between applications and partner systems;

• Take part in applying good security practices in developments and integrations.

Technical support and coordination

• Support technical partners in their integration with the platform;

• Take part in exchanges with business users and technical teams;

• Provide technical and functional support on the solutions developed;

• Contribute to the preparation and follow-up of acceptance phases;

• Help resolve issues encountered during integrations;

• Take part in coordination meetings and monitoring committees;

• Produce activity reports and ensure reporting on work carried out.

Documentation and knowledge sharing

• Write and maintain technical and application documentation;

• Produce the specifications, diagrams and materials needed to understand the solutions;

• Ensure traceability of developments, interventions and corrections;

• Feed knowledge bases;

• Capitalise on lessons learned to improve development and operational practices;

• Contribute to transferring knowledge to technical teams.

🎯 OUR REQUIREMENTS

Required skills and experience:

• Significant experience in Python development, ideally in an AWS Cloud environment;

• Good command of the Python language and good software development practices;

• Experience using AWS SDKs, including Boto3;

• Good knowledge of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment and of developing applications hosted in the Cloud;

• Experience in designing and developing business applications;

• Ability to work on BUILD, RUN and operational maintenance activities;

• Proficiency with continuous integration and deployment tools GitLab CI and Jenkins;

• Good understanding of DevOps, CI/CD and automation principles;

• Experience in designing, integrating or operating REST APIs;

• Knowledge of security and authentication mechanisms: LDAP, TLS, SSL and SSO;

• Experience in corrective and evolutionary maintenance of applications;

• Ability to analyse and resolve application incidents and anomalies;

• Experience in designing and running technical tests;

• Mastery of software quality, code review and cybersecurity good practices;

• Ability to write detailed technical specifications, sequence diagrams and application documentation;

• Good knowledge of Agile and SAFe methodologies;

• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and technical partners;

• Autonomy, rigour and the ability to take on varied technical activities.

The following skills are real assets:

• Certification AWS Certified Developer - Associate;

• Experience with Terraform for automating and managing Cloud infrastructure;

• Experience in industrialising CI/CD pipelines;

• Participation in modernisation or transformation projects for business applications;

• Experience operating critical applications requiring high availability;

• Good understanding of service continuity, reliability and application security challenges;

• Experience integrating platforms with partner information systems;

• Knowledge of complex industrial environments;

• Experience with applications related to industrial maintenance, logistics or operational processes.

Experience within a demanding industrial environment is a real advantage, particularly in the sectors of energy, nuclear, critical infrastructure, transport or heavy industry.

👤 PROFILE SOUGHT

Holding a Bac+3 to Bac+5 qualification (EQF level 6 to 7) in computer science, software development, Cloud Computing or an equivalent field, you can demonstrate significant professional experience in developing Python applications and integrating them into AWS environments.

You have a dual focus on software development and application operations, allowing you to work both on designing new features and on the operational maintenance of existing solutions.

You are able to take technical subjects from end to end, from needs analysis and design through to development, testing, production release and support.

Your command of Python, AWS, Boto3 and DevOps environments allows you to contribute effectively to complex application projects.

You are autonomous, rigorous, methodical and particularly attentive to the quality, security and reliability of the solutions you develop.

You enjoy collaborative work and can communicate with a variety of contacts: developers, architects, operations teams, application managers, technical partners and business users.

Your ability to balance business requirements, technical quality, operational constraints and continuous improvement will be essential to succeed in this assignment.

Occasional travel to different sites in France is to be expected (around 4 to 8 times a year, mainly to Lille and Paris). Depending on the sites concerned, personal protective equipment, specific clearances or access authorisations and prior administrative checks may be required.
