About the role
The Senior Project Manager leads complex, engineered-to-order piping support system projects from contract award through final delivery, managing $10M-$20M in annual deliveries. This role is responsible for ensuring projects meet contractual requirements, quality standards, budgets, and delivery commitments while maintaining strong customer relationships. Working closely with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality, and sales, the Senior Project Manager drives cross-functional collaboration, proactively resolves challenges, and ensures successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
How You Will Help
- Lead and manage multiple complex, engineered-to-order projects from contract award through completion, ensuring contractual requirements, quality standards, budgets, and delivery commitments are met.
- Serve as the primary customer contact, building strong relationships, managing expectations, resolving escalated issues, and ensuring effective communication throughout project execution.
- Provide leadership and direction to cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality, and sales, to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, critical paths, resources, budgets, financial forecasts, and risk mitigation strategies to achieve project objectives.
- Proactively identify and resolve technical, operational, and financial challenges, coordinating with subject matter experts and leadership as needed.
- Lead customer kickoff meetings, project status reviews, engineering reviews, and factory verification and acceptance activities.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to other project managers, promoting consistent project management practices, accountability, and professional development.
- Support the PMO Director in evaluating project priorities, resource allocation, portfolio performance, and resolution of escalated project issues.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen project management processes, reporting, operational efficiency, and overall project performance.
- Collaborate with internal teams to capture lessons learned, implement best practices, and improve customer satisfaction and project delivery.
- Travel to customer sites as needed to strengthen relationships, support project objectives, and resolve critical issues.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary, customer-sensitive, and competitive information.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, Engineering Management, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Five or more years of progressive experience in project management, engineering, or complex engineered-to-order projects, with demonstrated success managing multiple large-scale projects.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional project teams and coordinate effectively with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality, and other stakeholders.
- Strong experience managing project scope, schedules, resources, risks, quality, budgets, costs, and contractual requirements from engineering through final delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate and resolve complex project challenges, manage competing priorities, and implement effective recovery strategies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and customer relationship management skills, with a focus on customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, take ownership of project outcomes, and drive results in a fast-paced, technically complex environment.
- Experience managing projects across multiple industries, preferably including power generation, nuclear, naval, or defense applications. Experience with piping support systems is highly desirable.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
