About the role

Translated into English from Danish by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.

As Senior Engineering Manager (Silkeborg or Aarhus), you will be responsible for two agile development teams in the Loan & Financing area, where technology, business and customer experience come together. It is an area of high complexity and great importance for the everyday work of banks, where quality, stability and the ability to continuously develop are crucial.

Leading teams with a clear purpose and real impact

You step into a role where leadership is not about being close to every detail, but about creating the framework that enables two teams to deliver stably, learn faster and make better decisions together.

The teams work on credit solutions used by end users, advisers and back office. This means that your deliveries must not only function technically - they must also support important banking processes and build trust among the people who use the solutions in practice.

Your task will be to create clear direction, good prioritisation and a way of working that can be sustained over time. You help the teams break down larger problems, create an overview of dependencies and translate goals into concrete behaviour in everyday work. When uncertainty, risks or pressure on deliveries arise, you help create the next step - without taking over the teams' responsibility.

The special thing about the role is that you must both ensure stable delivery capability and help employees and teams develop. You work with change through behaviour, collaboration and shared ownership - not only through new processes. This requires that you can see patterns in wellbeing, quality, capacity and collaboration and translate them into concrete improvements that can be felt in the teams' everyday work.

You will also have an important role in exploring how AI and new methods can improve software development as a natural part of the work on quality, efficiency and learning.

What success looks like after 6-12 months

After the first 6-12 months, you have created noticeable progress in both the teams and the leadership group. This means, among other things, that:

  • your two teams work with clear direction, stable capacity and more predictable delivery capability

  • the teams deliver to the agreed quality and in line with the expectations of customers and stakeholders

  • employees take shared responsibility for developing collaboration, prioritisation and the way they deliver

  • you have built trusting relationships with employees, fellow leaders and key collaboration partners

  • the teams contribute constructively to the area's portfolio management and cross-cutting priorities

  • you have helped the teams through concrete changes - also when this has required difficult prioritisation or clear conversations

  • AI and new ways of working are used in a way that improves software development and contributes to new standards in the area

Help shape the direction for more than your own teams

You become part of a leadership group that will eventually consist of five leaders with shared responsibility for nine teams. This gives you a leadership space where you can shape both your own teams and the area's overall way of prioritising, delivering and learning.

The leadership group works in a structured way with operations, strategic progress and own development. Weekly, you coordinate operational activities and help each other with current challenges. Monthly, you work with strategic themes, measurements and adjustment of direction. Quarterly, you assess whether the area is moving in the desired direction, whether the backlog and priorities should be changed, and how the leadership group itself can develop its way of working.

You are expected to think as a leader for the whole - not only for your own teams. You contribute overview, curious questions and constructive sparring, and you help joint decisions turn into action. You communicate complex topics clearly and at the right time, so that teams, fellow leaders and stakeholders can navigate them.

Your profile: you connect people, technology and deliveries

We imagine that you have experience leading software development teams and thrive in the space between people, technology, deliveries and strategy.

You create followership through trust, clarity and follow-up. You can engage employees around shared goals, help teams develop their collaboration and ensure that agreements are followed up. You can also handle demanding leadership situations, when expectations, wellbeing or results call for open dialogue and clear follow-up.

You have a good understanding of software development and of the mechanisms that make development teams work well. You do not need to be the most technical person in the room, but you must be able to ask the right questions, understand risks and dependencies and contribute to decisions about quality, robustness, security, compliance and delivery capability.

We see that you have experience leading software development teams, change management, delivery responsibility in complex agile environments and collaboration in leadership groups with shared responsibility. It is also an advantage if you have experience balancing customer needs, quality, capacity and business priorities - and are curious about how AI or new methods can improve software development.

You will thrive in the role if you can create progress without taking over the teams' responsibility, and if you are motivated by developing people, ways of working and results.

Do you want to lead teams where your impact can be felt?

The role gives you the opportunity to develop in a leadership environment where people, technology and business are closely connected. You will work with team development, strategic prioritisation, portfolio management, AI in software development and leading change in an area of great importance for Bankdata's customers and partners.
