About the role

Translated into English from German by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.

Become part of our team

Apaleo is the open hospitality platform that gives hotels the freedom to assemble their technology exactly the way they really need it. We have been API-first from the start, and now we are taking our platform further as AI-first: with Agent Hub, the hotel industry's first AI agent marketplace, we give hotels the freedom to deploy autonomous agents for their business. We hold our own Finance function to the same standard: we are building it consistently as AI-native.

We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant who combines solid bookkeeping know-how with genuine enthusiasm for agentic workflows, and who will help us build structures, processes and controls for a scalable Finance function. Initially, you will take ownership of day-to-day operations in close collaboration with our three-person Finance team. In the medium term, your focus shifts from booking to orchestrating: AI agents take over document processing, coding and reconciliations, while you define the rules, monitor the results and are responsible for quality and compliance as Human in the Loop. In the medium term, you will help us shape the path towards an AI-native accounting and ERP setup and become the central point of contact for all accounting questions at Apaleo.

How you will contribute:

  • You independently handle all business transactions arising in financial accounting (invoice checking, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger and bank accounting) and ensure an audit-proof, GoBD-compliant data basis at all times for reporting and management.
  • Together with our team, you take responsibility for preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements under HGB with fixed deadlines, and you drive a faster, increasingly automated close (Fast Close).
  • You design and implement agentic workflows for recurring processes such as document capture, coding, bank reconciliation, provisions and intercompany, and in doing so shape how your own role develops over time: away from manual booking and towards orchestrating, monitoring and approving the work of AI agents.
  • You work closely with external tax advisors and auditors.
  • You help shape how our finance tech stack develops into an AI-native accounting and ERP setup over the medium term: from tool selection and data model through clean master data and interfaces to scalable end-to-end processes that grow with us.
  • Over time, you will become the central point of contact for all accounting questions at Apaleo, and you will bring the experience and overview needed to place topics in context beyond your own area.

What you bring:

Must-haves

  • Completed training or further education as a certified Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK) or a comparable qualification, with several years of practical experience in financial accounting.
  • Very good knowledge of German commercial law (HGB); IFRS knowledge is an advantage.
  • Very good DATEV and Excel skills, as well as a strong understanding of processes and systems: you think in data flows, not in individual postings.
  • Experience with monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements under real time and deadline pressure within a company.
  • Near-native German (for communication with tax advisors, auditors and authorities, and for statutory reporting) and good working English (for collaboration with Legal and other international stakeholders).
  • A structured, independent and proactive way of working: you raise uncertainties directly instead of letting them build up.
  • You are in our Munich office at least twice a week, ideally you already live in Munich or the surrounding area.
  • You are comfortable with process ambiguity and rapid change, make pragmatic 80/20 decisions, and still deliver high quality where it matters.
  • Genuine curiosity about AI: you already use tools such as ChatGPT or Claude in your daily work, review their output critically, and want to fundamentally rethink processes rather than just digitise them.

Nice-to-haves

  • You have already set up agentic workflows or automations in finance (e.g. with LLMs, RPA or tools such as n8n or Make) and can show concretely how they improved quality, throughput time and close.
  • Experience in a software/SaaS company or a fast-growing start-up/scale-up; familiarity with SaaS metrics.
  • Experience in a private equity environment.
  • Exposure to transfer pricing topics.
  • Familiarity with Employer of Record (EOR) structures and their

What you can expect from us:

  • Flat hierarchy and flexible structure - Enjoy autonomy and ownership in an environment where collaboration is valued more highly than rigid hierarchies.
  • A key role in a fast-growing company - Become part of one of the most promising international software companies in the hospitality industry, in the heart of Munich, and actively help shape the finance function.
  • Fair and transparent compensation - Benefit from a clear peer review system and a career progression plan that supports your growth.
  • An AI-native working environment: Work with current AI tools and real room to shape how we rethink finance from the ground up.
