About the role

Translated into English from Swedish by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.

Would you like to step into a central finance role as one of Gothenburg's best-known family-founded companies enters a whole new chapter? Tingstad is in an exciting phase of change with new ownership structure, continued expansion and a group structure that is evolving. We are now looking for a Head of Financial Control who wants to help build the financial structure for the next phase.

This is a role for you who have a strong foundation in audit, accounting and group reporting and who thrive when you can combine structure and quality with development and change. You will step into a situation where much is already in place - but where much also needs to be built, developed and adapted to a new context.

About Tingstad

Tingstad was founded in Gothenburg in 1959 and has grown from a one-man business into one of the leading suppliers of consumables and equipment for businesses in the Nordics. Today the business has annual sales of approximately SEK 4 billion and around 500 employees. The head office and logistics centre are located in Gothenburg, and the business has a strong presence in the Nordic market.

After more than 65 years as a family-owned company, Tingstad has now taken the next step in its development. Bain Capital has acquired a majority stake in the company, while Paul Jigberg remains as a minority shareholder. This brings new opportunities for continued expansion, investment and acquisitions - while Tingstad is committed to preserving the family spirit, entrepreneurial drive and pride that have characterised the company since its founding.

In other words, two worlds now meet: the long-term perspective and culture built up over several generations, and the structure, development capacity and growth ambition that come with new ownership.

About the role

As Head of Financial Control you will hold a central position in Tingstad's new finance organisation. You will report to the CFO and be responsible for creating a stable and efficient structure for the group's financial reporting, consolidation and monthly closing.

A key part of the assignment is to develop reporting from a more locally driven model to a common and structured group reporting. You will lead your area independently and become an important link between the CFO, the group companies, auditors, the board and owners.

The role has a clear mandate and a high degree of personal responsibility. You are expected to lead your area and ensure that both recurring deliveries and development initiatives maintain high quality and the right pace.

Your main areas of responsibility will include:
  • being responsible for and developing the group's monthly closing, consolidation and financial reporting

  • ensuring quality, structure and efficient processes in reporting to the CFO, management, board and owners

  • being responsible for the annual report and reporting in accordance with relevant accounting principles, including IFRS

  • being the main contact for auditors and driving the audit process

  • developing and establishing a structure for internal control

  • developing reporting packages, processes and routines as the new group structure is established

  • contributing qualified financial analysis and creating understanding of results, balance sheet and cash flow, and contributing financial expertise in acquisitions, integrations and other structural changes

  • contributing to the development of the group's financial structure and tools, including consolidation systems, and identifying when external specialist expertise needs to be involved, for example in tax and complex accounting issues.

In the role you will work closely with both the CFO and the business in an environment where decision paths are short and where finance will play an important role in Tingstad's continued development.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who have a solid financial foundation and ideally a background in audit. You have also built several years of experience in qualified roles within financial control, group accounting or equivalent, and are confident across the whole chain from accounting and year-end close to consolidation, reporting and analysis.

You are used to working with several legal entities and ideally operations in several countries. Experience from a PE-owned business is important for the role, and you understand the demands for pace, transparency, quality and follow-up that come with such an ownership environment.

You have a good understanding of both K3 and IFRS and have experience of group reporting and annual reports. Experience of consolidation systems or of implementing or developing such systems is an advantage.

Experience of acquisitions, M&A and mergers is valuable, as is exposure to the Audit Committee, bank agreements and financing matters. We also like to see a strong understanding of cash flow and how financial reporting can be used to create better governance and decision support.

You hold a degree in economics or have an equivalent academic education.

As a person

To thrive and succeed in the role, we believe you appreciate an environment where not everything is already built. You see the opportunity to create structure, improve processes and establish new ways of working. You are independent, structured and reliable in delivery, and have the ability to drive your area forward even when timelines are tight. At the same time, you are unpretentious and enjoy working with others. You can move freely between the details of accounting and the bigger financial picture, and are confident in dialogue with the CFO and colleagues across the group as well as auditors, the board and owner representatives.

Above all, we are looking for you who find change stimulating and want to help shape how a finance function should work going forward.

Why Tingstad - and why now?

It is hard to imagine a more exciting time to join Tingstad.

You will join a large and well-established company with more than 65 years of history, a strong culture and a business that has grown continuously over time - while a whole new chapter has just begun.

With Bain Capital as new majority owner, a new group structure and continued ambition to expand and carry out acquisitions, new demands are placed on finance - but also great opportunities. As Head of Financial Control you will have the chance to be involved early, set the structures and influence how financial governance and reporting should work as Tingstad takes its next step.

It is an opportunity to combine the best of two worlds: the pride, entrepreneurship and closeness of a family-founded company with the development capacity and pace of an international PE environment.
