About the role
Role - Data Modeler
Location - Johannesburg, SA
Hybrid (3 days onsite)

We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler to design, develop, and optimize enterprise-scale analytical data models. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Microsoft SSAS Tabular, cube development, semantic modelling, and business intelligence solutions. The role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into scalable and high-performing data models.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop enterprise data models to support reporting, analytics, and decision making.
- Build and maintain SSAS Tabular models and multidimensional/tabular cubes.
- Develop semantic layers that align technical data structures with business requirements.
- Create and optimize DAX measures, calculated columns, and KPIs.
- Ensure model accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business processes.
- Analyze and improve model performance, scalability, and query response times.
- Collaborate with data engineers, BI developers, and business users to define data requirements.
- Support data governance, data quality, and metadata management initiatives.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data modelling and performance-related issues.
Mandatory Skills
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft SSAS Tabular.
- Strong experience in Cube Development.
- Deep understanding of Semantic Data Models.
- Proficiency in DAX Measures and Calculations.
- Experience in Model-to-Business Alignment.
- Strong knowledge of Performance Optimization and Tuning for analytical models.
- Experience with SQL and relational database concepts.
- Understanding of dimensional modelling techniques such as Star Schema and Snowflake Schema.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to Azure Data Platform services.
- Experience with Power BI and enterprise reporting solutions.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Experience working in cloud-based data platforms and migration initiatives.
Educational Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related
discipline.
