Hi there! Thanks for stopping by 👋
Are you actively looking for a new opportunity? Or are you simply browsing the market? Well… you could be in the right place!
Lightspeed's Data Office is hiring a senior analytics engineer to design and manage the data models that guide decisions on financial performance, go-to-market (GTM) activities and product analytics. You will work with stakeholders in Finance, Revenue Ops, Marketing and Product to build the analytical foundations on which the business runs.
If you enjoy building data pipelines that drive real business decisions, and you want to design canonical models that unify fragmented source systems across multiple CRMs, ERPs and product platforms, this role is for you. You are able to talk with the finance team about revenue recognition or with the product team about mapping activation funnels, and come away with a clear data model in mind. You have high quality standards, you know how to push back constructively when necessary, and you don't wait for a clearly defined problem to be handed to you. You define the scope of the work, deliver it and rally your colleagues.
What you will be responsible for:Designing and developing the data models that underpin the business: financial reporting (GTV, MRR, revenue recognition), GTM analytics, and product and operations insights
Designing with scalability and maintainability in mind while remaining pragmatic, delivering incremental value, gathering feedback and iterating as you go
Turning ambiguous business requirements from the Finance, Revenue Ops, Marketing and Product teams into clearly defined technical solutions, with effort estimates
Collaborate within our "Hub & Spoke" architecture, in partnership with upstream data-owning teams, downstream Looker/LookML developers and other business pods (Retail, Hospitality, Operations) to design functional models end to end
Treat documentation as a deliverable in its own right: column descriptions, model contracts and architecture notes that support both human reviewers and AI-assisted workflows and large language models (LLMs)
Diagnose problems at the root rather than the symptoms, and put systemic fixes in place rather than one-off patches
Ensure end-to-end pipeline health: monitor proactively, lead incident response and flag risks before they become delivery problems
Autonomously manage your own commitments within sprints and contribute to team-level planning, including task allocation, effort estimation and prioritisation
Mentor junior engineers through coaching, code reviews and technical sessions, and define the criteria for excellence
Advanced SQL skills: query performance, clean and maintainable code, and advanced analytical techniques (for example, window functions)
Proven experience designing enterprise dimensional models on modern cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery or Snowflake, including partitioning, incremental models and performance optimisation
Hands-on experience modelling SaaS / CRM / ERP source systems such as Salesforce or NetSuite, with a clear understanding of how their object models translate into clear dimensional schemas
Proven production expertise in Dataform or dbt: materialisations, incremental strategies, snapshots and macros
You communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, clarifying requirements, highlighting trade-offs and building alignment
A security and compliance mindset: GDPR, SOX and data access controls are an integral part of the role, not an afterthought
As a global company with employees and customers outside Quebec, proficiency in English as a working language is required for this role.
Experience with CI/CD (for example, GitHub Actions): automated testing, linting and deployment workflows
Python or JavaScript for data engineering tooling
Experience with LookML or an equivalent semantic layer
Command of data contracts for pipeline validation
Experience using AI/LLM-assisted tools to accelerate development workflows: code generation, documentation, debugging or review
Knowledge of revenue and finance domains (ARR, MRR, NetSuite, revenue agreements)
Genuine autonomy: you will own the reference data models used by the company's leaders.
A modern, well-maintained technology stack (Dataform, BigQuery, Looker, GitHub Actions, OpenCode) with ongoing investment in developer experience.
Experienced colleagues who value quality, constructive code reviews and the time needed to do things properly.
Direct visibility of the impact of your work with the CFO, GTM teams and Product teams.
The opportunity to join a fast-growing Data organisation within a public company based in Montreal.
You will enjoy:
A flexible work environment that supports your success.
A culture that celebrates performance.
An environment offering both growth opportunities and the chance to have real influence.
Career opportunities that make a difference.
Flexible vacation and remote work policy.
An equity programme, because this is your company too.
