About the role

Translated into English from Swedish by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.

AI is not only changing how we write code. It is changing how systems are designed, how teams work and which skills will set tomorrow's engineers apart.

For developers who want to keep growing, mastering programming is no longer enough. Understanding architecture, system design and how AI can be used as an integral part of the development work is also required.

Your journey as a consultant at SALT begins with a five-week accelerator where you build the engineering and AI skills the market demands today - and which will become even more important tomorrow. You are then matched with one of our clients, where you get to put your new knowledge into practice as a consultant.

Your consulting career at SALT

As a consultant at SALT, you become part of a network of developers and engineers who work at leading companies in fields including fintech, retail, telecoms and industry. Our commercial team, with over 20 years of experience in the industry, matches you with assignments where you can continue to develop within modern software engineering, AI and system design. Our ambition is to give you the best conditions to stay at the forefront, even as technology changes.

SALT is not a traditional consultancy. We are fundamentally an education company, and with us, skills development does not stop when you start your first assignment. Through our established education activities, coaching and the SALT Community, you continue to build your skills together with other consultants and alumni. Our office is centrally located at Medborgarplatsen and our working culture is characterised by a strong sense of community and constantly helping each other develop. We have regular AW:s and internal events where you have the opportunity to meet colleagues and build your network between assignments.

About the accelerator

The accelerator is part of your path into the consulting role and is designed for you who already master the basics of programming. Over five intensive full-time weeks, you get the opportunity to raise your technical level and build skills in areas that are becoming increasingly important in the engineering roles of the future - from system design and architecture to AI and advanced engineering practices.

You work together with other developers in projects and team environments that mirror modern development organisations. The focus is on developing your engineering thinking, your ability to make well-founded technical decisions and to work AI-native throughout the development process.

Among other things, you will work with:

  • AI-assisted development and modern AI tools

  • System design and software architecture

  • Engineering trade-offs and technical decision-making

  • Scalable systems and modern development environments

  • Code review and technical communication

  • Team-based problem solving

  • Advanced development projects

The last two weeks are devoted to a larger project where you put your knowledge into practice and build a solution that demonstrates both technical breadth, system understanding and the ability to work as a modern, AI-native engineer.

Practical information

Your employment at SALT begins with a five-week full-time accelerator from our office in Stockholm.

After completing the accelerator, you are matched with an assignment at one of our clients. The goal is for you to step into your first assignment with a strengthened engineering profile, deeper technical understanding and the ability to work as an AI-native developer.

You will learn to:
  • Use AI as a natural part of the development process, from design and implementation to testing, quality assurance and documentation.

  • Raise your skill level in system design, architecture and technical choices based on real business and system requirements.

  • Evaluate, improve and quality-assure AI-generated solutions.

  • Communicate technical decisions and collaborate effectively with both developers and other roles in the organisation.

Are you the one we are looking for?

We are looking for you who have already worked a couple of years in a developer role and now want to invest in the next phase of your career.

You need to:

  • Have at least 2-3 years of experience in professional software development.

  • Have experience of development in C#/.NET or Java, where C#/.NET is our primary technology area during the accelerator.

  • Have worked with version control and collaboration in development teams.

  • Have a good understanding of object-oriented programming and basic design principles.

  • Be fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

  • Have permanent residence permission in Sweden.

  • Be permanently resident in or near Stockholm.

It is meritorious if you:

  • Have experience of cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.

  • Have worked with architecture or system design questions.

  • Have used AI tools as part of your development work.

  • Have experimented with agentic workflows or AI-driven processes.

  • Have experience of code review, mentoring or technical leadership.

As a person, we see that you:

  • Like understanding how things fit together, not just getting them to work.

  • Are curious about how software engineering is changing and want to stay one step ahead.

  • Thrive in environments where learning and knowledge sharing are part of everyday life.

  • Find it easy to collaborate, give and receive feedback and contribute to the team's development.

  • See AI as a natural part of the future of software engineering and are motivated to develop new ways of working where AI strengthens both your own and the team's ability to create value.
