About the role

Translated into English from French by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.

WSP, a global engineering leader, is committed to the ecological transition and environmental excellence. Join our team to lead projects with a strong positive impact and work on managing regulatory issues related to the environment.

Would you like to put your skills at the service of projects that have a genuine environmental impact, within a committed and multidisciplinary team? Join the Environment Division of WSP France, with more than 100 colleagues across our offices in Lyon, Paris, Bordeaux, Arras, Grenoble and Marseille.

What does your role involve?

Reporting to the Strategic Environmental Consulting unit of the Environment and Earth Sciences division, you will join the existing team and carry out assignments related to regulatory files in France. Given its positioning across several disciplines, the projects offer the opportunity to work on different themes such as road infrastructure, public transport, buildings or public and industrial facilities, etc.

A genuine teamwork is established between project teams and the environment team to deliver an optimised project that takes into account environmental and social constraints.
The team is increasingly moving towards projects with added value in decarbonisation and resilience to climate change.

Specialists (biologists, geologists, hydrogeologists, hydrologists and a lawyer) support the design of the project.
The role concerns projects in France, but a team dedicated to international projects works in close liaison with the regulatory consulting team, and international project opportunities are possible.

In this capacity, you will be involved in particular in:

  • Preparing and managing regulatory environmental files:
From the early project phases (regulatory scoping, case-by-case examination) through to obtaining the environmental authorisation, you manage a small team to prepare the documents of a file relating to the ICPE regulation or the "loi sur l'eau" (water law), environmental assessment.
You supervise and/or take part in producing all or part of the studies and/or administrative files: initial state analysis, impact assessment and proposal of ERC measures (avoid, reduce, offset).

  • The technical interface with other WSP divisions and clients, administrative authorities, other consultants (for example ecologists) and subcontractors.

  • Participation in various environmental studies depending on ongoing projects.

  • Project management: planning, coordination, budget monitoring, reporting.

  • Drafting technical and commercial proposals.

  • Regulatory and technical monitoring to anticipate changes in the environmental framework.

Could this be you?

  • You hold a five-year master's degree from an engineering school or equivalent, with a specialisation in Environment, and have strong regulatory and legal skills.

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience writing environmental impact studies and authorisation files in relation to French regulation is required.

  • Good level of English appreciated (C1 or B2), reading, writing and speaking.

  • You demonstrate rigour and autonomy, team spirit, curiosity that allow you to work in multidisciplinary teams and support clients with their projects.

  • Your writing and summarising, facilitation and organisational skills are well established (project teams, public meetings).

  • Occasional travel to be expected.

Why join WSP for your environmental career?

  • Inclusive mindset and a working environment that values diversity.

  • Flexible working to balance your professional ambitions and your personal life.

  • Involvement in large-scale projects to shape society and accelerate the ecological transition.

  • An evolving career path, training and continuous development, collective support.

  • Collaborative environment, culture of innovation and sharing of skills with our recognised experts around the world.
