About the role

Translated into English from Norwegian by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.

Lekekassen is looking for a Head of Technology who creates value through technology and AI

As Head of Technology, you will be responsible for shaping the next generation technology platform at Lekekassen. You will lead the transition to Shopify, further develop the systems landscape and the technology team, and ensure that technology, data and AI create real commercial value. You will become part of the management team and have significant influence on the company's further development of its systems portfolio, and create an even closer interaction between technology and commercial environments. As Head of Technology, you will have overall responsibility for technology, the systems portfolio, architecture and technological priorities.

About the Company

Lekekassen is owned by Europris and has around 55 employees, with turnover of approximately NOK 630 million, around 600,000 orders annually and a range of around 10,000 unique SKUs. The ambition is to develop a modern, scalable and data-driven commerce platform that provides a foundation for further growth in Norway and the Nordics. Lekekassen is Scandinavia's largest online toy store and is the market leader in Norway, as well as a challenger in Sweden and Denmark, where it is continuously gaining market share. Lekekassen is characterised by LEKNE and lives by its mantra that "It is the people who create the results".

About the position

We are looking for a technology leader who combines solid technological understanding with strong business acumen. You must understand technology well enough to challenge, prioritise and set direction for both internal professional teams and external partners.

This is the role for you if you understand that good technology is not primarily about technology, but about what it creates for the customer and the business.

You do not need to be the best developer in the room, but you must understand technology well enough to ask the right questions, challenge the professional teams and make good technological choices.

Key responsibilities

You will be responsible, among other things, for:

  • leading the transition to Shopify and ensuring a controlled implementation and realisation of benefits

  • developing the technology team and shaping future organisation and competence

  • developing the systems portfolio within, among other areas, e-commerce, PIM, finance, logistics and customer service

  • creating better interaction between technology and commercial environments

  • establishing clear business cases and priorities for new apps, integrations and system investments

  • selecting and following up technology partners and suppliers

  • further developing the quality of data, integrations and analytics

  • driving the practical use of AI in development, operations and e-commerce.

Desired background and competence

Higher education is an advantage, but not decisive. What matters most is that you can demonstrate relevant experience, strong professional competence and documented results, whether these have been acquired through education, working life or a combination of both. To succeed in the role, we are particularly looking for the following qualifications:

  • Experience from e-commerce, digital retail or other transaction-intensive digital businesses.

  • Experience leading a technology function, or having held a central role with significant technology and decision-making responsibility.

  • Experience with platform migrations, system implementations and integrations.

  • Good understanding of modern e-commerce platforms. Experience with Shopify is particularly relevant.

  • Experience prioritising between development initiatives and translating business needs into good technological decisions.

  • Experience with supplier and partner management and with assessing business cases for technology investments.

  • Good understanding of data, system architecture, PIM and integrations.

  • Experience both with building AI into business processes and seeing how AI can be used within technology, development and e-commerce.

  • Ability to build/implement "AI into the business's processes such as pricing engine, POAS integrations, PO system, forecasting etc."

Ability to work closely with commercial environments and connect technological choices to customer experience, efficiency and profitability.

Personal qualities

You are clear, confident and commercial, while also being pragmatic and results-driven. You thrive with high pace and several parallel initiatives and are able to prioritise what creates the greatest value. You can challenge when necessary, but are also good at building trust and bringing people with you through change.

In addition, you are;

  • commercially and technologically strong

  • curious and solution-oriented

  • clear and confident in communication

  • pragmatic and results-driven

  • good at building relationships across technology and business

  • comfortable with change and high pace

  • motivated by building and improving

  • fluent in Norwegian and English, both spoken and written

We offer

  • A clear mandate to influence system choices, ways of working, teams and priorities, while the role sits close to the business and has direct influence on customer experience, growth and profitability.

  • One of the most exciting journeys you can take if you have an ambition to develop a modern, scalable and data-driven commerce platform that provides a foundation for further growth in Norway and the Nordics.

  • Leading a small team which, together with you, ensures that technology, data and AI create real commercial value.

  • A good place to develop further and build knowledge.

  • Competitive terms.

  • Significant influence and a short path from idea to decision.

  • An environment with high speed, short decision-making paths and colleagues with a strong will to succeed.

If you are excited by the combination of technology, e-commerce, AI, leadership and commercial development, we would be pleased to hear from you.
