About the role

Translated into English from Dutch by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.

Do you get energy from designing, building and managing complex network environments? And do you enjoy working together with experienced engineers to create stable and secure infrastructures? Then we would love to meet you.

About Quanza

Quanza provides network solutions and managed services from Amsterdam for organisations with a network infrastructure where every second counts. Through specialist technological knowledge, independent business operations and strongly personalised service, Quanza has for more than 20 years provided the optimal foundation for the digital innovation of vital infrastructures in the Netherlands. Organisations that have outsourced their networks to Quanza include Rijkswaterstaat, GVB, SURF, and Havenbedrijf Rotterdam. We offer them an optimally performing foundation that their entire organisation can rely on. This approach is underpinned by our core values:

  • Obsessive,

  • Connecting,

  • Reliable and

  • Problem-solving.

What will you do?

As a Network Engineer you work on the design, implementation and management of complex network infrastructures for clients in government, telecom and enterprise environments, among others.

Within this role there are various possible emphases: some engineers work more often on project-based activities such as design and implementation, while others focus more on management, stability and continuity. Depending on your knowledge, experience and ambition, we decide together where your focus lies - and this can shift over time.

Your responsibilities include, among others:

  • Designing, implementing and managing network infrastructures

  • Working on improvements, extensions and renewal of existing networks

  • Carrying out and preparing changes, including technical runbooks

  • Resolving incidents and structural problems in complex environments

  • Monitoring and optimising performance, availability and reliability

  • Collaborating with project managers, security engineers and management teams

  • Documenting and safeguarding solutions and configurations

  • Carrying out on-call and maintenance services outside office hours

What do you bring?

You are analytically strong, work in a structured way and feel at home in environments where quality, stability and collaboration are central. You can switch between technical work and discussion and know how to keep complex situations manageable.

In addition, you have:

  • HBO or WO working and thinking level (University of Applied Sciences or University level)

  • Solid knowledge of network technologies and protocols (e.g. routing & switching)

  • Experience with enterprise network environments

  • Experience with monitoring and management tools (e.g. Zabbix, PRTG, SolarWinds, NETbox)

  • Familiarity with ITIL processes (incident, change and problem management)

  • Experience working in standardised environments

  • Good communication skills in Dutch (required) and English

Platform and vendor experience:

  • Cisco (IOS / NX-OS) and/or

  • Juniper (Junos)

  • (Pre) Fortinet or other enterprise vendors

Certifications (or comparable level):

  • Cisco: CCNA / CCNP / CCIE

  • Juniper: JNCIS / JNCIP / JNCIE

  • ITIL Foundation (pre)

Nice to have:

  • Experience with automation (e.g. Ansible, templates)

  • Experience with large or complex networks (e.g. government, telecom, enterprise)

  • Experience with Infoblox
