About the role

Translated into English from Dutch by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.

You set the direction for our data domain and for the people who keep it running every day. Join Deftpower's Data Team!

About Deftpower

Deftpower makes charging smarter. With our SaaS solution and AI, we ensure that charging points, cars and the energy grid work together seamlessly, for businesses across Europe. We are growing fast, thanks to a substantial investment, and we are significantly expanding our team this year.

About the team

You will work with Serhii and Piet, two hard workers who gladly keep the daily operation running and know the platform inside out. What the team needs now is someone who gives the data domain a clear direction. Our data volumes are growing rapidly, and our data warehouse is still relatively young: the foundation is in place but not yet finished. There is a great challenge in stabilising that foundation and preparing it for the next phase, including analytics and AI.

About the role

This role does not necessarily require the strongest data engineer on the market. It calls more for someone who understands engineering well enough to make the team stronger and to give the data domain direction. Among other things, you will:

  • Lead Serhii and Piet: you coach them and ensure they build with confidence.

  • Stabilise the data warehouse and put a good data model in place, the basis for reliable reporting and for the analytics and AI that follow.

  • Roll up your sleeves yourself: you build hands-on on pipelines and the data model.

  • Determine the direction of the data domain together with Marc (COO) and translate it into concrete priorities for the team.

  • Act as the point of contact for stakeholders from Product, Operations, Finance and Commercial: you identify what they need and help determine what takes priority.

For you

At Deftpower you find more than smart technology. You find a team that enjoys the ride and is proud of building something real together. We are ambitious, open and growing fast. We move quickly, we make decisions and we improve every day.

This role is for someone who enjoys turning complexity into clarity and wants to see the impact of their work directly. As Data Domain Lead you take ownership of the data domain and help shape how it grows. As the team grows further, this role offers the opportunity to progress to an official Team Lead position.

To strengthen our culture, we organise Deftpower Days (D-Day) every quarter, where colleagues from Arnhem, Berlin and Sweden come together.

  • A salary between €5,000 and €6,500 gross per month.

  • Holiday allowance and leave days in accordance with Dutch regulations.

  • Pension and secondary employment conditions according to Dutch standards.

  • A training budget of €2,000 per year.

  • A laptop of your choice up to €1,750.

  • Hybrid working with short lines and a lot of trust.

About you

You combine technical background with a strong sense for people and priorities. Do you recognise yourself in this?

  • You know your way around Azure SQL, Power BI and Azure Data Factory, and have a strong feel for data modelling; Azure Functions and .NET are a bonus but easy enough to learn.

  • You have previously stabilised a less mature data environment, not only technically but also by bringing structure and calm to how a team works.

  • You are energetic, commercially minded and genuinely people-oriented, and you get as much satisfaction from helping your colleagues grow as from solving a technical problem.

  • You can switch between hands-on building and steering from a distance, and you have a good sense of when to do which.

  • A background as a consultant fits well here, just as much as that of a senior data engineer who already takes on the softer side of leadership and now wants to do so officially.

  • You are strong enough to convince stakeholders across the business without losing contact with your team.

Applying

This is what you can expect from our application process. After you apply, we carefully review your profile. If there is a match, we will contact you for a short introductory conversation.

This is followed by two interviews: one with Christiaan, our current Team Lead Operations who previously led the Data team, and one with Marc Dick, our COO. If both sides are enthusiastic, we will move on to an offer. We keep the process clear, personal and focused on getting to know each other well.
